Unified storage systems for distributed Tier-2 centres
The start of data taking at the Large Hadron Collider will herald a new era in data volumes and distributed processing in particle physics. Data volumes of hundreds of Terabytes will be shipped to Tier-2 centres for analysis by the LHC experiments using the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG). In many countries Tier-2 centres are distributed between a number of institutes, e.g., the geographica...
متن کاملA Genetic Algorithm to Solve the Virtual Machines Resources Allocation Problem in Multi-tier Distributed Systems
We propose a genetic algorithm to find the optimal allocation of virtual machines in a multi-tier distributed environment. We consider a formal model which allows both for quantitative and qualitative resources, handles multiple SLAs and easily capture the structure of a distributed infrastructure. We show that this allocation problem is NP-hard, so we focus on approximate solutions including a...
متن کاملSelected Sense Enumerated Lexical Resources for Czech
In this paper we present three quite different approaches to word senses description in three particular lexicons. The advantages and disadvantages of these approaches are mentioned. We have done some practical experiments with all of them. These experiments—including machine learning and manual annotation—are briefly described. At the end, we conclude by comparing those three lexicons.
متن کاملA Multiple-tier Distributed Data Integration Architecture
Database online technology has been around for many years. Presently much enterprise data are being generated and used online. For B2B and B2C interaction, Internet is acting as an important role in businesses environment. It has been recognised that the major technical difficulty in bringing data into the end-user environment was the fact that the data is existed on a diverse set of platforms ...
متن کاملProfiling Network Performance for Multi-tier Data Center Applications
Network performance problems are notoriously tricky to diagnose, and this is magnified when applications are often split into multiple tiers of application components spread across thousands of servers in a data center. Problems often arise in the communication between the tiers, where either the application or the network (or both!) could be to blame. In this paper, we present SNAP, a scalable...
